And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Happy Independence Day!  I read these verses this afternoon and want to commit to pray this over our student body. Our children are “our nation.” We need to pray for them without ceasing. We need to take every opportunity to fill them with the knowledge of the Lord, the encouragement to lean in and hear His voice, and create the soil of rich nutrients required to best help them walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.  

Our desire as we lift up in prayer  our children, our students, and one another is that we would be pleasing to him, bearing fruit for every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God! 

Let us lift up our nation according to these standards as well. Let us lift up our leaders and pray that those who best steward the knowledge of His will and His wisdom would be protected and put in place.  

The Lord bless each one of you.  I pray that this Fourth of July is a day of joy, gratitude, and fellowship with those you love!

Note from the Faulkner family

Dear VCS Family,

Words cannot express our gratitude for your help in our time of need. Two days after the tornado, Josh and I simply wanted to salvage our clothes, books, and mattresses and leave everything else covered until the insurance adjuster would get there. I texted Kathy at 6:30 that morning. In short order, Josh became a one-man call center as so many of you reached out asking how you could help. By 11 AM, everything in our house was packed away safely into storage or on its way to my parent’s house an hour away. It was the most incredible sight to witness: everyone working together, taking apart furniture, lifting appliances, going through every cupboard, and fitting it all like Tetris pieces into a 10 by 10 by 10 storage unit. (For the math students: How many cubic feet is that?) 

Talk about the body of Christ working together and building itself in love! Again, thank you to all who helped that day, to those who were willing when we had more than we needed, to those that have reached out about play dates for the kids, for everyone’s generosity, prayers and support.
