Greetings, Valley Christian family and friends! October is flying by with a flury of excitement throughout the month. From fundraising opportunities, Creation Trip for 9th-12th, Spirit week and MCAC tournament, to Professional Development day, I know students, staff, and parents alike are enjoying the beauty of the season and also giving the Lord great thanks for His provision and endurance! While October itself is a busy month, it also includes preparation for the coming months of November and December! Midterm, conferences, Thanksgiving, and Christmas programs are only a sampling of conversations around the corner or in full swing. And why am I even talking about these things at the opening of our letter today? It is to give thanks to the Lord’s faithfulness. It is to remind myself and all of us of our great need to live in the Lord’s strength and not our own. It is to submit to the call to live in complete dependence on Him and rest in the Peace who is the Person of Jesus Christ. “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:37 This morning in homeroom as I had the privilege of talking to the students, I shared with them that I understood how many things might be on their mind. I understand how many tasks there may be on their list. We have prayers and cries of our heart for our family, our own life and situation, friend relationships, academic situations, and even hopes or dreams surrounding sports or extracurricular activities. It can feel like a lot. BUT we can bring those things to the Lord. We can surrender to him what perhaps we have thought WOULD FILL US. It often begins with, “If I just…” If I just could get my house cleaned. If I just could get caught up in my homework. If I could just get away for a weekend. If I could just get a “C” or “B” or “A” in this class. We often think that the next milestone, the next checkmark at the end of our “to do list,” the next, the next, the next, would fulfill us. But we turn up very empty handed and often disappointed when we are not satisfied. The Lord does not ignore hopes, dreams, goals, and the desires of our hearts. He does want us to recognize that though He may choose to use those things in our Lives to glorify Him and bring joy to our lives, we will only find satisfaction in Him. He is the living water. Praying you have a beautiful weekend and enjoy time with family. Praying your weekend be a great mix of productivity and and rest. In Christ, Kathy Thompson Creation Trip
The 9th-12th grade has just returned from Kentucky from our Creation Trip. Students left Thursday morning at 6am and returned approximately 6pm! That allowed for plenty of chaperone and student time together! We truly enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter and learn and consider God’s great faithfulness and Promises. Another great blessing was staying for the 4th time in our history, at the Florence Alliance Church in Florence, Kentucky. We have built a beautiful relationship with this body of Christ and are so very grateful for their generosity in hosting us and keeping our costs as low as possible. From our observation, the church is faithful in children’s ministry so we purchased a Children’s book from the Ark and all students and staff signed as a thank you to them. Feel free to check out the Creation Museum’s and Ark Encounter’s websites to see what we were able to experience! Morning Crossing Guard Needed We are in need of a morning crossing guard from 7:15 to 8:00. This is a very busy time in the office and for teachers preparing for their day and we care very much for student safety! It would be a tremendous gift! If you are interested in volunteering for a consistent day of the week, please contact the office and we will share with you the details. Thank you for considering the opportunity! MCAC Tournament! Our Soccer and Volleyball teams will be headed to their MCAC tournament next week! We are so proud of them! Pray for their safety, that they play their best, that they show the good sportsmanship they are known for, and also for the other teams traveling and competing with us. It is such an honor to be part of this athletic league and come together in sports for the glory of God. If your student is participating and you are able to accompany them for any part of it, you will be blessed. Greetings from the Fundraising Committee, It is our great pleasure to announce the top-performing families in this year’s greenery fundraiser.
Taking the first place is the Somers family, followed by the Ohrt family in second place, and the Johnson family in third place.
In addition to recognizing the top-selling families, we are thrilled to acknowledge the exceptional achievement of our 8th-grade class. As the top-selling class in terms of greenery items sold, they have truly demonstrated remarkable dedication and effort. As a token of our appreciation, we will be treating them to a special pizza lunch one day this coming week.
On behalf of the fundraising committee, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to each and every family who actively participated in this fundraiser. Your contributions have been invaluable in making this event a great success.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the individuals who generously donated their time and efforts to assist in the Fall Harvest event on Sunday, October 13th. Your commitment and support have been instrumental in the smooth running of the event.
A special thank you goes to Adam and Monique Wallis at The Bloom Lake Barn. We are immensely grateful for your unwavering generosity in providing us with the use of your beautiful barn year after year. Your kindness and hospitality have made this event truly memorable.
As we look ahead, we are excited to announce the upcoming Booya event during Doe-on-the-go and the new Fruit fundraiser. Please keep an eye out for further information about these upcoming events.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and participation. We look forward to your continued involvement in our future fundraising endeavors.
